Paid surveys, also called as incentivized surveys, are surveys made by companies and institutions who want to get quantitative information about people’s economic activities, product and brand preferences. These information are usually set in the context of the respondent’s (the one who takes the surveys) demographics. These are called paid surveys simply because the people who take them get paid. But the payments the respondents receive may not necessarily be in the form of cash. Some companies give out entry into a sweepstakes program. Still others reward takers with points that can accumulate and be later exchanged with products.
The information which companies get out of the surveys is valuable to them, because it might point out flaws in their product, or areas where improvement is necessary. Because companies want to encourage accurate representation from persons coming from different backgrounds and demographics, they have resorted to online surveys as this widens the reach of companies. The internet also is a reliable and efficient medium in which to do surveys. In return for the information they receive and for the time spent by the takers, companies shell out a designated sum.
At present, there are various websites that persons who want to earn money taking surveys can visit. These websites provide links to the surveys prepared by companies. Note that companies may require specific profiles of persons to answer their survey, and not all interested persons may fit this profile.
Legitimate surveys may either be paid, or not paid. Surveys that require respondents to pay, or to give out credit card information are usually scam.
