There is a saying, when there is money, there is evil. 80% of survey sites deals with money and this attracts evil that is the reason why there are more scam survey sites than legitimates. People are aware that these kinds of sites do exist but most of them do not know how to determine the difference. Here are the three simple and easy steps to determine whether the site is legitimate or not:
1. Inquisitive Sites – survey sites will naturally ask personal information from you, these includes name, age, birthday, location, hobbies, and other things that will be used to determine the surveys that fits your personality. However, if the site asks a lot of things that are not necessary in surveys like credit card and bank account number, stay away from them immediately. If you happen to join these sites, try to check you credit card bill or your bank account, because they might be shopping online using your hard earned money. Identity theft is the most notorious cyber crime today and you should be careful when joining sites because you might be the next victim.
2. Outdated Sites – updating the site regularly is one way used by webmasters to let their visitors know that they are still open for business. Check every function in the site. The knowledge base and customer support are some of the things that should always be maintained. Legitimate survey providers will provide their contact numbers, physical address, email address, and fax numbers. Check whether all these information are true. You can also test whether their customer support works or not by sending them an inquiry, if the respond to your inquiry and addressed your problem systematically then it is a good sign that the site is legitimate.
3. Membership Fees – legitimate survey providers are getting probably thousands of dollars to conduct the survey, this means that the amount that they receive from the company is enough to sustain all the expenses of the site. If they are really making money from conducting surveys, they should not ask for membership fees. Members of the site are what keep their business running, and asking for a price will turn off possible members. If the site is legitimate, why would they want potential members to turn their backs from the site? Losing members who will participate in the surveys simply means that the business is going down and will soon collapse.
The next time you see sites that manifest these, stay away from them or you could end up with nothing or with higher debts or even lose your identity online. Conducting a research will help you better determine sites that are really working and sites that are made because of the presence of the money in this industry.
